I installed Devonthink app and tested it out a little - was a bit overwhelmed by it all so I clsoed it. I think I need to spend a bit more time with it to see what it can actually do
1. Obsidian - just works, easy to set up and all notes are yours. Pitfalls: Needs plugins to do most things
2. Samsung Notes - I use a tablet to take work notes, and with Samsung Notes, I can easily convert to text, share the notes, easily insert diagrams in a canvas-type set-up, and it works very well.
3. Capabilities - great team behind the product, lots of amazing features and a well-polished product. Pitfalls: They stated that no E2EE (at least for now), which I believe is crucial for any note-taking app.
Right now, if I could only choose 1 note note-taking app, it would be Obsidian. Private, offline, open and write, works seamlessly, sync is E2EE and reasonably priced.
Great stuff and no worries at all. I would also keep an eye on Thymer - no app released just yet (really soon though) and seems to have incredible features out the box.
No will be stored in DB to allow for much greater flexibility and features - comment from the dev
"It's not based on files, so access, syncing and backup works through the Thymer app/site (some features wouldn't map well to flat files, esp wrt real-time collab, outlining and structured data). As mentioned, you can self-host though, and we might add more client-side API hooks for interop later"
The DEVONthink app, would you consider using for PKM? Please let me know and thank you!

Hi Ed, all the PKM apps, what are the top three you would recommend, and please explain why? Please let me know, and thank you for all that you do. 😊
Hey Yaaqoub - sorry for the delay.

What apps are in your current top 3?
Thank you, Ed, for extensively answering my question; it is greatly appreciated. I plan to move forward working with Obsidian. Thanks again!

Will Thymer store notes like Obsidian?

I always worry about files stored in a company’s database iCloud. Should this be a concern?
Please keep us posted when Thymer is released. Thanks again!
