PKM Weekly - 2025-09-14
A look at the latest Personal Knowledge Management PKM news from the past week.
Hi Everyone,
We are back with another episode of PKM Weekly. Let’s see what is in store for us today.
My goal is to try and make these 10 minutes or so - attempt #1 (although I think I said this before and failed miserably due to all the great stuff out there). I also failed this time. Oh well.
Obsidian
Obsidian + AI: How to Do It The Right Way
If you have been trying to use a bit more AI with Obsidian but are unsure where to start or what to do, then check out this brilliant video from Nick
In this video, we combine Obsidian with AI. I introduce my IDI Framework for protecting you from the downsides of AI (while benefiting from its upsides). We walk through how I'm using Claude Code to combine with Obsidian to 10X the power of my notes (while maintaining my privacy). And how Obsidian is integrating AI (or not) as Obsidian's CEO weighs in on Obsidian's future with AI.
As with all of Nick’s videos, even though he describes and demos tools and features using his frameworks, you can easily implement them in your own. Thanks Nick.
An alternative is Hyperlink - on-device AI agent that searches your local files, powered by local AI models. 100% private. Works offline. Free and unlimited.
Notebook Navigator
I don’t usually post about individual plugins because I fear that will become a slippery slope given the amount of amazing plugins out there, but I thought Notebook Navigator deserved a mention as it makes Obsidian that little bit more aesthetically pleasing to be in.
If you want your vault to be that little bit more colourful, then do check out Notebook Navigator
A Couple of Interesting Reddit Posts
Oh my god, it's done. An entire book written in Obsidian, 119k words - OP wrote a whole book in Obsidian and lists out the plug-ins / insight into their monumental achievement.
Obsidian is like satisfactory - Rinse and repeat in Obsidian
Capacities
Readwise Integration
I have seen a few posts talking about a Readwise Integration being tested (Alpha). For those who are desperate for this, fear not, it is being worked on, and I am sure more will be published by the team soon.
Capacities MCP server
A user made a Capacities MCP server - it's limited to the few methods that are in the API currently, but it works super nicely (e.g. I'm getting Claude Code to write summaries of our work to my Daily Notes)

TANA
Something Big Happening?
The Tana Team posted “Working on some upcoming feature announcements” - not sure what it will be, but from the image they posted alongside the message, things look interesting.
https://x.com/tana_inc/status/1966504092533915931
I think it is likely some sort of offline mode, but it could also be a new set of icons, similar to Notion's approach.
More View Options Coming Soon?
In one of the demos from the Tana team, they clicked a few buttons, which showed some new view options. These are in “testing now”, so hopefully with us soon enough.
Effective Executive Tana Live Build Session Complete
The team completed the Effective Executive session.
Executives sit through endless updates — the challenge isn’t hearing the info, it’s turning it into decisions and outcomes. From a blank canvas, Mark builds out a workspace showing how messy meeting chatter can become a structured decision-tracking system in under 60 minutes.
After 4 sessions of Live Builds, the Tana Team would love your feedback on how we can improve from here! If you have 3 minutes, please fill out their Tana Live Build Survey

Random Note
Danzu posted a great, while very simple, query to resurface forgotten notes in Logseq.
(and (tags [[Page]]) (sample 1))
Change the number in the sample if you want more than one!
Anyone use Logseq in conjunction with Obsidian?
OP asks “Wondering if anyone finds it useful to use both, and how your workflow looks like. Or how you connect them.”
Few hints and tips on how in the Reddit post if you are interested.

Collabwriting
I played around with Collabwriting some more and am impressed by what it offers.
It works a la Readwise / RecallAI, where you can save highlights / notes from a number of sources and store them in your collection for retrieval.
I also understand that the team is looking to do some really cool stuff with AI so definitely worth staying tuned on this one..
Heptabase
Adjust the direction and position of the "Close side panel" icon.
Improve public whiteboard loading performance.
Fix an issue where double-clicking a card in a public whiteboard doesn't open the right panel.
Mobile app v1.30.1
Fix an issue where some Android devices are unable to log in.
Improve stability and performance when the network is unstable.
The team also announced a new showcase idea. https://x.com/Heptabase/status/1965779754654597578
When people try Heptabase for the first time, many ask: “How do others use the whiteboard? Are there any examples I can learn from?”
That’s why we’re building the Gallery — a place to explore whiteboards shared by the community. It’s coming soon, and we’re curating the very first collection now.
If you’d like your whiteboard to be featured, submit it today. Our team will review each submission before it goes live.

Something interesting is also coming to Craft:
